Expectant faces
bundled in winter hats
hands wrapped in
fuzzy mittens
brightly colored
seen through
the trees…

Laughter
leads the way…

Snow crunching
underfoot
step by step
they make their
way
on the
hunt
for the
perfect tree.

Just so tall
just so wide
just so green…

At last
through the clearing
it stands
alone
perfect in its
simple shape
just so tall
just so wide
just so green...

See it filled
with lights
white and twinkling
faces lit up
eyes shining
hands clutching
mugs of hot cocoa.

Marshmallows floating
on chocolate froth
steam rising to tickle noses
giggles of anticipation
waiting
for the coming morning….
